Rivertown Animal Hospital is excited to be supporting Bark for Life to raise money and awareness for the Stillwater Relay for Life/American Cancer Society . The Bark for Life walk is Saturday, May 16 from 9-noon, rain or shine at Barkers Alps in Bayport. We will be there to support the efforts of this group of dog lovers and their fight against cancer.
According to the Bark for Life Website “The American Cancer Society Bark For Life is a fundraising event honoring the life-long contributions of our Canine Caregivers. It presents an opportunity for people to be empowered through their canine companion partnerships and to contribute to cancer cures through the mission of the American Cancer Society.”
Bark for Life celebrates the relationship between the cancer survivor and their canine caregiver. To watch a video of the history of Bark for Life and more information on how this event was started click here.
According to event chair, Sue Baldwin, “Dogs are silent, constant companions when nothing is certain but a cancer diagnosis. Dogs are the unnoticed caregivers who give a special kind of support for cancer patients.
Last year’s inaugural Bayport event hosted over 200 participants and their canine companions, and helped raise $5,000 for the Stillwater Relay for Life.
There will be contests, games and demonstrations, as well as, vendors, sponsors, and opportunities to honor dogs that are surviving or battling cancer.
You can register online, visit www.relayforlife.org/barkstillwatermn. Registration will also be available the day of the event.
The cost is $25 and the first dog, and includes gift bag. Additional dogs in the family are $5. Registration fee the day of the event, is $25.
Let’s get out and support this great cause!
