Thank you to those who have lost their lives in service to our country.

a soldier and his dogThis is a special day for our country. It is a day set aside to remember the men and women who have died while serving in the military armed forces.  I want to say thank you to the families of those who have lost someone they love while serving our country. Your loss is shared by a grateful nation.

Thank you to all of the men, women and military dogs who are putting themselves at risk every day. My nephew Brian served in Iraq and was awarded a Bronze Star.  My niece Captain Sally Moe is currently serving in the US Army Veterinary Core caring for the military working dogs, the pets of our military service personnel, and ensuring the health of the military food supply.  My special thanks to both of you for your service.

There is now a memorial to Military Working Dogs Teams at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas.  This website honors the Military Working Dogs and Handlers who have served since WWII and is a wonderful tribute to our military men, women and dogs that have served and lost lives.

As you celebrate this day and enjoy the summer weather, barbeque and extra day of golf and boating remember to say thank you to those who have died as well as remembering those who have served.
