Mini Vet School Date Set for Feb 23, 2013

kid veterinariansHave you heard about Rivertown Animal Hospital’s Mini Vet School? For the past four years Rivertown Animal Hospital has been hosting a great educational program for kids. On a Saturday afternoon we provide three hours of learning and fun for children between the ages of 7 and 12 years. This unique concept was developed in 2008 when we opened our veterinary hospital at Liberty Village in Stillwater, MN.Our goal is to reach out to the local community, provide a learning opportunity for children and share our love for pets and veterinary medicine. We incorporate materials from the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) Dog Bite Prevention Program in our Mini Vet School curriculum.

Mini Vet School introduces children to the behind-the-scenes workings of a small animal hospital. They learn the basics of giving a physical exam, first-aid for pets, taking and reading radiographs, what goes on in surgery, the fundamentals of dental care, pets and parasites and dog bite prevention and safety.

Educational materials are sent home with each student so they can continue to learn and share their experience withvet kids others. Each child receives a Mini Vet School Handbook, stethoscope and lab coat.

With help from several sponsors we have created an affordable yet valuable experience for our Mini Vet Kids.  Previous participants and parents have overwhelmingly given our program positive feedback.

Classes fill quickly.  Contact us soon if you are interested in enrolling your child. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.
